SAFEGUARDING
Everyone involved in sport and activity within our centres and out in the community whether they are a volunteer, participant, spectator or an elite athlete, should never have to worry about abuse or harassment.
Safeguarding in sport and leisure is the process of protecting children and adults from harm by providing a safe space in which to play sport and be active.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping others safe and people should know what to do if they have any concerns.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Trilogy Active controls the use of photographic/recording equipment under guidelines to, where reasonably possible, restrict the potential for misuse.
In all cases where Trilogy Active has allowed photography, the personal preferences of any subjects take precedence. Trilogy Active takes a zero-tolerance approach to reports of inappropriate photography and will not hesitate to call the police or other relevant authorities to resolve issues.

Approaching Customers
This is a sensitive area, which has the potential to upset and offend customers.
Any customer found using photographic equipment in unauthorised areas/activities is politely and sensitively dealt with on the assumption that their motives are entirely innocent and that they are genuinely unaware of the rules. Staff awareness is crucial to the success of these control measures.
When a member of staff identifies a customer with a camera or mobile phone in unauthorised areas/activities, they bring it to the attention of the Duty Manager immediately.
Awareness training is included in the annual training plan and forms part of the induction.
SWIMWEAR
CHILDREN UNDER 4 YEARS OF AGE
Double-Nappy System:
Disposable or Reusable Swim Nappy: This is the first layer that helps contain any accidents.
Neoprene Swim Nappy: A snug-fitting neoprene nappy should be worn over the swim nappy. It should have close-fitting leg and waist ribs to ensure everything is securely contained.
CHILDREN AGED 4 AND OLDER
One-Piece Swimsuit: A classic option, providing full coverage and ease of movement.
Swimming Tankinis (Long Top): Offers a two-piece option with the coverage of a one-piece.
Swimming Bikinis: A two-piece option that is suitable for those who are comfortable with less coverage.
Burkini Swimming Costume: A modest, full-coverage swimsuit.
Skirted Swimsuits: Combines a one-piece with a skirt for added coverage and style.
Swim Shorts: Comfortable and practical, often preferred for more active swimming.
Swim Trunks: Typically worn by boys, these are loose-fitting and comfortable.
Swim Briefs: A more fitted option for boys, like trunks but with a snugger fit.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR IN THE POOL
Non-Swimwear Specific Attire:
Regular clothes, including cotton t-shirts, jeans, or any material not designed for swimming, should be avoided. These can be heavy when wet, hinder movement, and may introduce contaminants into the pool.
Always choose swimwear made from materials designed to withstand chlorine and other pool chemicals while ensuring safety and comfort in the water.
If your child has a sensory disorder or specific need, please contact our customer service team on 03330 439 900 or email customerservice@trilogyactive.co.uk, before attending the session so that reasonable adjustments can be made where possible.
CHILD BEHAVIOUR
All of our activity instructors/coaches will manage behaviour by following a set of clear, consistent and positive strategies.
Read our child behaviour policy
Behaviour management at all of our junior activities will be structured around the following principles:
The behavioural expectations apply equally to all children, staff and parents/guardians. Staff will outline the expectations to children at the start of each session.
Positive behaviour will be reinforced with praise and encouragement.
Challenging/inappropriate behaviour will be addressed in a calm but assertive manner immediately by the activity instructor/coach.
When dealing with challenging/inappropriate behaviour, staff will always communicate in a clear, calm and positive manner.
Staff will make every effort to set a positive example to children by behaving in a friendly and tolerant manner themselves, promoting an atmosphere where children and adults respect and value one another.
Children who experience bullying, racism, or other unacceptable behaviour will be actively encouraged to speak to a member of staff.
Physical punishment, such as smacking or shaking, will never be used. Children are never threatened with these.
Staff will always show consistency in their approach and attitude towards challenging and unacceptable behaviour and their approach towards the child and their parent/guardian.
Dealing with challenging/Inappropriate behaviour
3 Strike Warning System:
A child who behaves inappropriately will be told stop, reminded of the expectations and given a warning
If a child continues to demonstrate inappropriate behaviour, they will be reminded of the expectations again, given a second warning and asked to sit out of the activity for a short period in an attempt to calm them down. The parent/guardian will be informed on collecting the child
If a child receives a third and final warning they will be asked to sit out for the remainder of the session. The parent/guardian will be informed on collecting the child.
If inappropriate or negative behaviour continues, the child may be asked to leave the swimming lesson or active play session early. They will be encouraged to return the following week with a fresh approach and the opportunity to demonstrate positive behaviour and achieve success.
